does anybody know the team wigan will b putting out against leigh on the 27th, only iv been told by a leigh fan the deal for leigh to have a friendly against us is that wigan have to put our full side out, i did read an article in the evening post that wigan will have a frindge of the 1st team but most of the under 20s, well i remember two seasons ago when we played leigh at leigh and was told the full squad will be out only to find is was 98% of the under 20s, now i dont mind watching the under 20s but when im paying £15 a ticket at leigh i want at least get to see 50% of that years squad.

Well if your expecting to see any first teamers then you'll be mostly disappointed as this will be our U20's vs Leigh its even classed as an U20's friendly on the official site the First Team play Rovers, Giants & Reds & the U20's play Leigh & Barrow you may get Dudson & possibly for fitness Fielden & Prekky though in truth those last two are unlikely.

All the revenues for the game are going to Leigh. Wigan will send a mainly U20 side with a few first team squad players.

I'm sure last time we played Leigh they kicked up a bit of a fuss as we only sent an under 20's team. As it turned out that was probably the right call as our Under 20's only very narrowly lost that day.

When this this years game was announced on the official site it did say that it would be a side mostly made up of under 20's.

In purely playing terms its hard to see what either club would gain from Wigan sending a side packed with first teamers to Leigh.

I hope Gelling, Amos and Goulding all feature at some point in either the Leigh game or Hull KR away the best partnership with Charnley need's to be determined.

9/10 first team squad players and the 20's would be the right balance for me as a Leyther. That would provide a good game for the fans and be a good hit up for the players.
When your 20's were sent last time it was a joke, and a direct response to Basil being coach. The intensity was poor and the ref awful.
Wire have benefitted by the game being guaranteed (due to undersoil heating) and on a perfect playing surface, when many were called off. Wire always sent the first team fresh from warm weather training, then brought on fringe at HT although 2011 it was much later as the score was much closer.
For a SL club to develop a relationship with a club who can guarantee the fixture, due to its facilities, has value, if its abused that value will go to another local SL club.
You have far more to gain from playing Leigh than Salford, both on and off pitch.

In fairness that does say a reserve side rather than under 20's so it will be somwhere between the two.

So its not the 20's - I expect 10 or so 1st team squad players then 10 or so others to make up your team. The squad players alone would be on far more than our entire playing budget so that mix would ensure an interesting fixture with a decent gate - 4000ish.
£16 for a dad n lad to sit and watch a Lobby v Humble derby is good value imo, and I hope you bring over a thousand or so.

Just seen it says reserve at the bottom - we must have tabloid journos writing the headlines for the website. Then again I should have just read the article in full.

On the Leigh website it says your sending a strong squad over,at least 20 of your first team squad will be involve and a small number of your under 20s.That should make it a bit more watchable for you lot don't you think?.
