The Dentist Wilf:
Great news on the appointment of Gareth Ellis as Football manager under Myler. Gareth breathes Hull FC but has a great reputation outside the club and anyway it will be Myler who is steering the recruitment ship but not having to now do all the ticky tocky stuff involved in moving players into the club and the area, detailed negotiations sorting housing out integrating the flow from Academy to first team etc etc. I guess I would have liked an outside appointment featuring an established Football manager but there just aint that many around and one can just hope that Gareth turns out as ex player Motu did. He has loads of contacts down under as well as being extremely well respected in this country. But most of all I'm just pleased that this being a board level decision shows again that its money where your mouth is stuff in getting the back office sorted into a professional outfit. We have come a long way since James Clark was doing everything from controlling the finances to running the marketing and from identifying (with no experience) new targets to being the resident DJ forum host etc. For me its Good to see us sorting the clubs structure out!
I'd be happy to be wrong, but didn't Ellis go into the DOR role when he first retired and then decide he wanted to be more hands on with the coaching?
I guess this new role does both though, which I assume with Feka (and whoever else before) here previous he won't have had much to do with. I'm just pleased he's sticking around. One of, if not the best signing the club has made in the modern era.
